Université de Sherbrooke

Université de Sherbrooke is a French-language university in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, founded 1954, and is known for co-operative education and engineering. Its co-op provision is among the most established in Quebec, alternating academic terms with paid full-time work terms. For a Kazakh applicant that offsets cost substantially and builds Canadian work experience supporting a Post-Graduation Work Permit and permanent residence. The language is the gate. Teaching is in French, and Sherbrooke is more consistently francophone than Montreal, where English is widely spoken. That makes daily life harder without the language and acquisition faster with it. Quebec's French-language universities charge international students less than the province's English-language ones, and Quebec's own permanent residence programmes favour French speakers substantially. A graduate leaving with the degree, the language and co-op experience is well placed to stay.
