University of Guelph

The University of Guelph was formed in 1964 from the Ontario Agricultural College, the Ontario Veterinary College and Macdonald Institute, and remains Canada's principal agricultural and veterinary university. For a Kazakh applicant the agricultural connection is direct. Ontario farming differs from Kazakh steppe agriculture in climate and scale, but crop science, food science, agricultural economics and veterinary medicine transfer, and Kazakhstan's grain and livestock sectors employ in all of them. Two published positions are worth having. Co-op fees are the same for international and domestic students, which is not true everywhere and which the university states plainly. And it publishes a 10,000 Canadian dollar International Transfer Scholarship — for transfer students rather than direct school leavers, which is worth knowing before it is counted on. It reports more than 2,200 international students from over 140 countries and nearly 200,000 international alumni from 150 countries.
