Beijing Sport University

Beijing Sport University was founded in 1953 as the Central Institute of Physical Education and is China's leading institution for sport science, coaching and physical education. It is part of Project 211 and the Double First-Class Initiative. It is affiliated with the General Administration of Sport of China rather than the Ministry of Education alone, which places it inside the national sport system rather than adjacent to it. It is also the only university in China holding sport science as a Category I national key discipline. One figure conveys the scale of that connection: as of 2015, its staff and students had collectively won 73 Olympic gold medals. For a Kazakh applicant the transferability is unusually good. Sport science, exercise physiology, biomechanics and coaching methodology are technical disciplines that work across national contexts, and Kazakhstan invests substantially in elite sport with established national programmes in wrestling, boxing, weightlifting, cycling and athletics.
