Beijing University of Technology

Beijing University of Technology was founded in 1960 to train engineers for the capital and is a municipal university within Project 211 and the Double First-Class Initiative. It teaches engineering, computing, architecture, materials science and applied economics. It sits a tier below the national universities in Beijing without being far below them in what it teaches, and its entry requirements are correspondingly more reachable. For a Kazakh applicant whose grades or Chinese level fall short of Tsinghua or Beihang, it is a realistic alternative in the same city. Beijing costs apply regardless of the university's tier. A student here faces the same accommodation and living expenses as one at Peking University, which is worth weighing against a stronger university in a cheaper city such as Xi'an or Hefei.
