Capital Medical University in Beijing was founded in 1960 as Beijing Second Medical College and is administered by the Beijing municipal government. It has around 15,187 full-time students, of whom 6,945 are undergraduates. It publishes English-taught clinical medicine admissions for international students and appears on Ministry of Education lists of institutions authorised to teach MBBS in English. That authorisation is reissued annually and current-year status should be confirmed rather than assumed. Its position in Beijing gives access to a large network of affiliated teaching hospitals, which for clinical training is a substantive advantage over a smaller city. The counterpart is cost. Beijing living costs run CNY 30,000 to CNY 55,000 a year, and across a six-year medical degree the difference against Shenyang or Zhengzhou exceeds CNY 100,000. That comparison should be made explicitly, since clinical exposure and cost pull in opposite directions.
