China Agricultural University

China Agricultural University traces its origins to 1905 and is the country's leading institution for agriculture, food science, veterinary medicine and agricultural engineering. It is a Project 985 university in Beijing. Its subject range maps onto the Kazakh economy more directly than almost any other Chinese university. Kazakhstan is among the world's larger grain producers, agriculture is a substantial part of national employment, and Chinese agricultural technology and investment are increasingly present in the sector. A degree in agronomy, food science, agricultural engineering or veterinary medicine from China's leading agricultural university has application at home rather than only abroad. That is a different kind of argument from a general university's ranking, and for a student from an agricultural region it may be the stronger one. The comparison worth making is with the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester, which teaches similar subjects at British fees.
