Nanjing Agricultural University

Nanjing Agricultural University traces its origins to 1902 and to the College of Agriculture of Jinling University, which in 1914 established the first four-year agricultural degree programme in China. It is part of Project 211 and the Double First-Class Initiative. Its subject range maps onto the Kazakh economy directly. Kazakhstan is among the world's larger grain producers, agriculture employs a substantial share of the workforce, and Chinese agricultural technology, machinery and investment are increasingly present in the sector. A degree in agronomy, plant protection, agricultural economics, food science or agricultural engineering has application at home rather than only in China. Against China Agricultural University in Beijing, the comparison is largely one of cost: Nanjing living costs run well below the capital. It has around 17,000 undergraduates and 8,500 postgraduates.
