Peking University

Peking University was founded in 1898 as the Imperial University of Peking, the first modern national university in China, and is a member of the C9 League. It is consistently ranked among the top two universities in the country alongside Tsinghua. It runs its own written entrance examination for international undergraduate applicants, covering Chinese, English and Mathematics. The 2026 application window ran from 1 January to 28 February, months before most Chinese universities close. An applicant working from a general study-in-China timeline would miss it. Peking University is strongest in life sciences, economics, public policy, law and medicine, with academic partnerships at Stanford, Cornell and Yale. The official English name is Peking University rather than Beijing University, and applications and correspondence should use that form.
