Shenzhen University

Shenzhen University was founded in 1983 alongside the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and grew with the city. It is administered by the Shenzhen municipal government and teaches across engineering, computing, business, medicine, law and the arts. Its position is the argument. Shenzhen is the centre of Chinese technology manufacturing, home to Tencent, Huawei, DJI and BYD, and adjacent to Hong Kong. For a student in computing or engineering intending to work in the sector, the internship and graduate market around the university is among the strongest in China. The counterpart is cost. Shenzhen sits among the most expensive Chinese cities, comparable to Beijing and Shanghai. A comparable degree in Guangzhou, an hour away by rail in the same province, costs materially less to live through across four years. Shenzhen holds an unusually crowded set of similarly named institutions, and getting the right one matters for correspondence. Shenzhen University, Shenzhen Technology University, Shenzhen Polytechnic University, the Southern University of Science and Technology, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Shenzhen, and the Shenzhen graduate schools of Peking University, Tsinghua and Harbin Institute of Technology are all separate entities.
