Wuhan University

Wuhan University traces its origins to 1893 and is one of the two Project 985 institutions in Hubei, alongside Huazhong University of Science and Technology. It teaches across the sciences, engineering, medicine, law, economics, surveying and the humanities. Its practical advantage for a Kazakh applicant is cost. Wuhan is among the most affordable major Chinese university cities, with dormitories valued at around CNY 900 a month against roughly CNY 1,800 in Shanghai. A student on a Chinese Government Scholarship stipend finishes the month with a surplus in Wuhan and almost nothing in Shanghai. Its surveying, mapping and remote sensing provision is among the strongest in the world, a specialism less visible in general rankings than the university's overall position suggests. The university is known for its cherry blossom season and is often described as among the most attractive campuses in China, which is a small thing but not nothing across four years.
