Abertay University

Abertay is worth considering for one kind of applicant and should be judged on that basis. It is internationally recognised for computer games technology and games design, having been among the first universities anywhere to teach the field at degree level, and Dundee has a substantial games industry cluster around it. For a student intending games development, computer arts, animation or cybersecurity, that concentration matters more than general institutional standing — games employers recruit on demonstrable work, and proximity to studios supplies both the work and the contacts. For law, medicine or the traditional academic disciplines, a larger university is the better choice. Abertay is a separate institution from the University of Dundee, which is a larger research university in the same city teaching medicine, dentistry and art and design. Both appear.
