Brunel University of London

The name changed recently and older material will not match. The institution is now Brunel University of London, having joined the University of London federation in 2024; anything published before then calls it Brunel University London or simply Brunel University. It is the same university. Brunel is a campus university at Uxbridge in west London, known for engineering, design, business and sport sciences. Unusually for London it runs a single self-contained campus rather than sites scattered across the city, which for a student arriving alone means accommodation, teaching and social life in one place. One point of geography has a direct financial consequence: Uxbridge is inside Greater London, so the Home Office applies the London maintenance rate of GBP 1,529 a month even though the borough sits at the western edge of the city and rents there are below central London. Every University of London institution awards its own degrees and admits independently. King's, UCL, LSE, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway, SOAS, Goldsmiths, Birkbeck, City St George's and Brunel are all members of the federation, and naming two of them on a UCAS form uses two of the five choices.
