The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts

The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts was founded in 1996 by Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty, in the buildings of McCartney's former school. It teaches acting, music, dance, theatre and performance design, sound technology and management for the creative industries. It is the cheapest route into performing arts training found so far. The BA Acting is GBP 23,450 a year, and Liverpool carries the non-London maintenance requirement of GBP 10,539 rather than GBP 13,761. Against LAMDA, a three-year degree costs roughly GBP 19,000 less once both are counted. LIPA states plainly that it currently does not offer any scholarships to international students. That is unusually direct and worth taking at face value: there is no award to pursue here, so the published fee is the real one. Its degrees are accredited by Liverpool John Moores University rather than awarded by LIPA itself, which should be confirmed for the intended course since it appears on the certificate.
