Norwich University of the Arts is a specialist art and design institution teaching fine art, graphic design, illustration, animation, film, fashion, architecture and games art. It traces its roots to the Norwich School of Design, founded in 1845, and gained full university status in 2012. Its fee is the reason to look at it closely. GBP 18,860 a year makes it the cheapest specialist art school found so far, and across three years the difference against the University of the Arts London is GBP 36,090 in tuition before any difference in rent. It also publishes its whole award table rather than inviting an enquiry: a GBP 5,000 Vice-Chancellor's Undergraduate Scholarship, GBP 2,000 International Undergraduate Awards, and a set of regional awards. A Kazakh applicant qualifies for the first two; none of the regional awards covers Central Asia. Increases are capped at the Office for Students' recommended measure, and a GBP 3,000 deposit is deducted from the first year's fee rather than charged on top of it.
