The University of Derby is a public university in the East Midlands, teaching engineering, computing, business, health, education and the creative arts across campuses in Derby, Buxton and Chesterfield. Its engineering provision draws on the city's aerospace and rail manufacturing base, with Rolls-Royce and Alstom both major local employers — for a student intending mechanical, aerospace or manufacturing engineering, that industrial proximity offers placement and project access a service-economy city cannot match. The international undergraduate fee is GBP 17,500 for September 2026 or January 2027 entry. Two discounts reach a Kazakh applicant and two larger ones do not; the detail is under aid. Buxton sits in the Peak District, roughly forty miles from Derby, so which campus a course runs at decides where a student lives.
