Hong Kong Baptist University

Hong Kong Baptist University was founded in 1956 as Hong Kong Baptist College and gained full university status in 1994. It is best known for communication and journalism, and for Chinese medicine. Non-local tuition was 175,000 Hong Kong dollars for 2025/26 against 44,500 for local students, placing it among the least expensive of the publicly-funded universities — and since the Belt and Road Scholarship covers whatever the fee is, a nomination here is worth the same as one at an institution charging 249,000. Its School of Communication is regarded as the strongest journalism provision in Hong Kong. Journalism transfers across borders as a skill, though press environments differ substantially between Hong Kong and Kazakhstan, and a student should be clear where they intend to practise. The Chinese medicine provision is distinctive and carries a separate question. It is a regulated health profession, and whether the qualification permits practice in Kazakhstan should be established with the Kazakh authorities before applying. The university co-founded a separate institution in Zhuhai on the mainland, which admits on different terms and issues a mainland student visa rather than a Hong Kong one.
