Bryant University

Bryant is a business-focused private university in Smithfield, Rhode Island, founded in 1863. Two things distinguish it for a Kazakh applicant. First, its tuition of USD 53,330 is bundled unusually broadly. Bryant states the fee covers everything except room, board and the student involvement fee, explicitly including health services, intramural sports and use of athletic and wellness facilities, where most US universities bill compulsory health insurance separately at USD 2,000 to USD 5,500. Second, and specific to Kazakhstan, Bryant sets out the J-1 visa route in detail. A student receiving at least 51% of funding from a source other than personal or family funds, including a home government scholarship, may be eligible for J-1 rather than F-1 status. For a Bolashak scholarship holder that is a materially different immigration path, with different work and dependent rules, and few universities spell it out. Transcripts covering the last three years of secondary school must be sent by the school directly.
