Stony Brook is a public research university on Long Island's North Shore, about 60 miles from New York City, offering more than 200 academic programmes and enrolling roughly 4,400 international students from 103 countries. Its most concrete opportunity for a Kazakh applicant is the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship, which Stony Brook publishes on its own site: an annual, renewable award covering 50% of tuition for first-year international students who demonstrate leadership and a vision for enhancing intercultural understanding. It requires a separate application in the StartSBU portal, including a two-to-five minute video, and reuses the transcript and English scores already submitted. Stony Brook extended its Fall 2026 first-year Regular Decision deadline to 1 February 2026 and accepts applications after published deadlines on a space-available basis.
