UAH is a public research university in Huntsville, Alabama's aerospace and defence centre, on a 490-acre campus with 17 research centres and USD 169.5 million in annual research expenditures, best known for aerospace engineering, cybersecurity, computer science, business and nursing. It combines two things a Kazakh applicant will rarely find together: a very low undergraduate English threshold at IELTS 5.5 and TOEFL 72, and automatic four-year freshman scholarships requiring no separate application. UAH states that 'scholarship consideration will be given to all first-time freshmen who are offered admission', and publishes a scholarship chart specifically for international students seeking an F-1 visa. Reported tiers run from around USD 13,670 up to a full tuition waiver for a 4.0 grade average with ACT 36 or SAT 1600. A separate competitive scholarship application has a 15 December priority deadline. Health insurance is mandatory and billed each semester.
