UNR is Nevada's public land-grant research university, founded 1874, with 13 colleges and schools and more than 500 degree courses, at a reported 86% acceptance rate. It makes a point of its position on international funding: 'Unlike other universities, the University of Nevada, Reno does offer scholarships for international students, ranging from general university scholarships to department scholarships.' The published bands are specific, running 'USD 1,000 to USD 12,000 for new international students to general University scholarships from USD 500 to USD 8,000 per year'. UNR publishes its international tuition at USD 23,562 a year, noting that 'on average, the University of Nevada, Reno's tuition is less expensive than comparable Tier 1 institutions in the United States.' It states plainly that it does not require SAT or ACT for admission or scholarships.
