UNH is New Hampshire's public research university in Durham, enrolling over 15,000 students from more than 70 countries across 200-plus undergraduate degrees, with recognised strength in engineering, business and marine science. Two features shape an international application. UNH recalculates every applicant's grade average in-house from grades 9, 10 and 11 using its own core course guidelines, requiring a recalculated 2.7 or above, so a Kazakh applicant's grade 9 basic secondary record is part of the academic assessment rather than merely a formality. And UNH states plainly that 'citizenship always supersedes residency': a student living in New Hampshire without permanent residency is treated as international and does not qualify for in-state tuition. International students are eligible for merit-based scholarships and for a named International Engagement award.
