Yeshiva University

Yeshiva is a Modern Orthodox Jewish university, and its structure follows from that in ways that shape everything about undergraduate study there. Undergraduate study is single-sex by campus: men at Yeshiva College and Sy Syms on the Wilf Campus in Washington Heights, women at Stern College and Sy Syms on the Beren Campus in Midtown. Every undergraduate takes a dual curriculum, combining a Torah studies programme — IBC, JSS, MYP or SBMP for men, the Rebecca Ivry programme for women — with a secular major. 658 of 2,879 undergraduates, roughly one in four, are studying in Israel in a given term through the S. Daniel Abraham Israel Program, which Yeshiva counts as enrolled students. The largest undergraduate unit is the Sy Syms School of Business at 947 students, then Stern College at 726 and Yeshiva College at 497; psychology, biology and computer science are the biggest majors outside business. This is a university built for observant Jewish students, and a Kazakh applicant should read the dual curriculum and single-sex campus structure as defining rather than incidental.
