The American University of Paris was founded in 1962 and was the first American university established in Europe. It teaches a liberal arts curriculum entirely in English, with American accreditation and French recognition. Its scholarship structure is the most actionable recorded anywhere here. A merit award tied to the International Baccalaureate diploma score runs from 7,000 euro a year up to the full cost of tuition, and the university awards more than 6 million euro in assistance annually. A student who knows about it early can work toward a specific number. Paris is the other argument, and also the cost. The city offers access to international institutions and a substantial cultural and academic environment. It is also among the more expensive European cities, well above Berlin. One practical point distinguishes this entry from the other European ones. Paris operates in French to a far greater degree than Berlin or Amsterdam operate in English, and French should be treated as necessary rather than optional.
