Duke Kunshan University

Duke Kunshan University awards both a Duke diploma and a Chinese-accredited Duke Kunshan degree, and admits on United States practice rather than through the Chinese system. Students are considered alumni of both institutions. It belongs among the American campuses abroad rather than among Chinese universities because the application is American throughout: essays, recommendations, possibly SAT or ACT, and no CSCA or HSK at any stage. That dual award is the reason to consider it. A Duke degree carries recognition anywhere in the world, and few routes to one cost less than studying in the United States. Admission is exceptionally difficult. Approximately 5% of applicants were admitted for entry in August 2025, with international applicants at under 3% — comparable to Duke University itself. It is also much the most expensive of the American-model campuses in China, and it does not publish its international undergraduate aid terms, which is the gap that most needs closing before anyone applies.
