New York Institute of Technology Abu Dhabi

New York Institute of Technology's Abu Dhabi campus opened in 2005 and awards NYIT degrees in engineering, computing and business, taught entirely in English. It sits in the same city as New York University Abu Dhabi, and the comparison between them is worth making explicitly rather than by default. That institution is need-blind, meets demonstrated financial need with grants, and admits around four per cent of applicants. This campus is considerably more accessible on entry and generally funds on merit rather than need. For a Kazakh applicant whose grades would not reach NYU Abu Dhabi, this is a realistic alternative in the same city with the same visa position and the same English-language environment. That is a genuine second option rather than a consolation. Abu Dhabi has direct flights to Almaty and Astana, an expatriate majority population, and English as the working language throughout.
