Saint Louis University's Madrid Campus was founded in 1967 and has over 1,300 students from 75 nationalities. It teaches in English and awards Saint Louis University degrees. Its structure offers a choice few campuses abroad do. A degree can be completed entirely in Spain, or combined with study at the St. Louis campus in Missouri. Nearly 100 undergraduate majors exist across the university, with select programmes offered in Madrid. Which majors can be completed in Madrid and which require transfer should be established before applying, because it determines whether a student needs an American F-1 visa at any point or none at all. Madrid is the practical argument beyond the degree. Spain is a European Union member state, living costs sit below northern Europe, and a graduate leaving with functional Spanish holds a language spoken by around 500 million people.
