The École de technologie supérieure is a French-language engineering school in Montreal, part of the Université du Québec network, founded 1974. It teaches engineering only, on an applied and industry-linked model, and its co-operative education provision is compulsory rather than optional in most programmes. That is the distinguishing feature: students alternate academic terms with paid full-time work terms in Quebec industry. For a Kazakh applicant in engineering, that combination — French-language tuition at Quebec's lower international rate, plus paid Canadian work terms — offsets cost more effectively than most Canadian scholarships do, while building the employment record behind a Post-Graduation Work Permit. The gate is French. Teaching is in French and the placements are in French-speaking workplaces.
