McMaster University in Hamilton is a U15 research university best known for health sciences and engineering, and it pioneered problem-based learning in medical education, an approach now used worldwide. Its supplementary application is the distinguishing feature and it is unlike any other in Ontario. Engineering and Computer Science use Kira Talent, which requires recorded video responses alongside written ones, typically with a short preparation window and no retakes. For a Kazakh applicant speaking English as a second language, that is a specific skill to practise rather than a form to complete. Fluency under time pressure without the chance to redraft is a different thing from writing an essay, and it should be prepared weeks ahead, recorded and reviewed. The deadline is 15 January 2027 through OUAC, with supplementary applications February to March by programme and a separate 50 Canadian dollar fee for Engineering and Computer Science.
