Southern Alberta Institute of Technology

The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary was founded in 1916 and is among the oldest polytechnics in Canada, teaching energy, construction, transportation, business and health. One correction comes first, because SAIT's petroleum engineering degree is widely recommended to international applicants and the institute states plainly that it should not be. SAIT's own programme page for the Bachelor of Applied Technology Petroleum Engineering states that the programme does not accept international applicants at this time. It is also a two-year degree completion route for people who already hold a technical diploma or a relevant science or engineering degree, not an entry route from school. What SAIT does offer an international applicant is a maximum tuition guarantee, which is unusual in Canada and genuinely valuable. Its other energy, aviation and trades programmes should each be checked for international availability.
