Université du Québec à Montréal

Université du Québec à Montréal is a French-language university in central Montreal, founded 1969, and is the largest institution in the Université du Québec network. It is known for arts, communication, social sciences and management, and its downtown position places it in the middle of the city rather than on a campus at its edge. For a Kazakh applicant the proposition is the French-language one. Quebec charges international students less at its French-language universities than at its English-language ones, and Quebec's permanent residence programmes favour French speakers substantially. A graduate leaving with the degree and working French is in a stronger position to remain than one leaving Toronto with English alone. Montreal is the softer entry point into French-language study, because English is widely spoken there in a way it is not in the regional Quebec towns.
