Beihang University

Beihang University was founded in 1952 from the aeronautics departments of eight universities, and is among China's leading institutions for aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering and information technology. It is one of eight Project 985 universities in Beijing. The name is worth getting right. Beihang was formerly Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and is still widely referred to as BUAA. Older guidance, agent lists and ranking tables may use either form, and both refer to the same institution. Beihang maintains close working ties with the Chinese aerospace and aviation industries, which for a student in those fields means project work and placement access that a general university cannot match. Aerospace is a sector where nationality restrictions sometimes apply to specific research areas. Whether any part of the intended programme is restricted to Chinese nationals should be established before applying.
