China Pharmaceutical University

China Pharmaceutical University in Nanjing was founded in 1936 as the first higher pharmaceutical institution in China, and remains the country's leading university in the field. It is part of Project 211 and the Double First-Class Initiative. Pharmacy is a different proposition from medicine for a Kazakh applicant, and in several respects a better one. The degree is four years rather than six, so the total cost is roughly a third less. The registration question, while still real, is generally less restrictive than medical licensing. And the language load, though real, is lighter than in clinical medicine, where patient communication is the whole of the third and fourth years. The economic case is direct. China is among the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers and Chinese generic medicines are widely distributed across Central Asia. A pharmacist or pharmaceutical scientist trained at China's leading institution in the field, who reads Chinese, connects to manufacturers and regulators already active in Kazakhstan. Whether a Chinese pharmacy qualification permits professional registration in Kazakhstan should still be established before applying.
