Sichuan University

Sichuan University was founded in 1896 and is a Project 985 institution in Chengdu, teaching across medicine, engineering, the sciences and the humanities. Its West China School of Medicine is among the strongest medical faculties in China and operates five university hospitals. The medical school is reported to publish a list of the bodies that recognise its MBBS, and the list is worth reading closely rather than taking as reassurance. It names the United States, United Kingdom, Australian, Nepalese, Indian and Pakistani medical councils among others. Kazakhstan is not among them. That is not evidence the qualification is unrecognised at home. It is evidence that the recognition has not been established the way it has for those other countries, which is a different thing and a question to settle before five or six years are committed. Chengdu is among the most affordable major Chinese university cities, with living costs well below the coastal centres.
