University of Electronic Science and Technology of China

The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China was founded in 1956 from the electronics departments of three universities and is the country's leading specialist institution for electronics and information technology. It is part of Project 985 and Project 211, with around 40,000 students. It also operates Glasgow College with the University of Glasgow, and that route is the reason a Kazakh applicant without Chinese should look here at all. Glasgow describes the joint degrees as "delivered entirely in English", and says graduates "are awarded two internationally recognised degrees" — one from Glasgow, one from UESTC. Chinese tuition and Chinese living costs, no HSK, and a British degree at the end of it. The limits matter as much as the offer. It covers three degrees, all in electronics and electrical engineering. The joint programme began in 2013, the College itself in 2016, and a second Glasgow College opened in Hainan in April 2022. What remains to establish is the money: what the joint route costs against the standard programme, and whether the 2+2 and 3+1 options that take a student to Glasgow for the final years are a choice or a requirement.
