Xinjiang University

Xinjiang University in Ürümqi is the leading university in Xinjiang, founded 1924 and part of Project 211, the Double First-Class Initiative and the 111 Project. It teaches across fourteen schools covering science, engineering, law, economics, management, arts and history. One fact makes it more directly relevant to a Kazakh applicant than any other Chinese university. It is a founding member of the China-Central Asian States University Alliance, an institutional network linking Chinese universities with those in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. No other Chinese institution has that structural connection to the region. Ürümqi is also nearer to Almaty than to Beijing, with direct flights and overland crossings, and Xinjiang living costs are among the lowest in China.
