De Montfort University

De Montfort is a large modern university in Leicester, known for art and design — particularly fashion, footwear and product design — as well as media and performance, computing, engineering, business and law. For an applicant in those creative fields the design provision is substantial and well established, and it changes the shape of the application: creative programmes commonly assess a portfolio rather than resting on grades, and the portfolio may carry the decision. De Montfort is a separate institution from the University of Leicester, a research university in the same city that teaches medicine at among the lowest international fees in Britain. The two differ in requirements and in standing, and correspondence sent to one will not reach the other.
