Leeds Trinity University

Leeds Trinity University is a small public university at Horsforth on the northern edge of Leeds, teaching education, journalism, business, psychology, sport and the humanities. Its size is the defining feature and the main thing to weigh. A small university generally means more contact with academic staff and a closer community, and a narrower range of courses. For a student arriving alone from abroad it also raises a question worth putting directly to the admissions office: how many international students enrolled last year, and how many from Central Asia. Leeds Trinity builds work placements into many of its programmes, which for an international student means UK work experience arranged by the university rather than sought independently. A placement forming part of the degree is permitted on a Student visa, unlike work arranged outside the 20 hours a week the visa allows. Horsforth is a suburb north of Leeds with rail connections into the city, which gives access to a large student population and labour market at lower cost. The University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett are both in the same city, admit separately, and have far larger international communities.
