Royal Holloway, University of London

Royal Holloway is a research university at Egham in Surrey, 19 miles from central London and seven from Heathrow, and a member institution of the University of London. Its fee policy is the most useful thing it publishes. Fees rise annually for continuing international students, but the rise is tied to the Retail Price Index and 'capped to a maximum of 7.5%'. That sits between the universities that fix the fee outright and those that publish no ceiling at all, and it lets a family put an upper bound on the third year before accepting the offer. The second thing worth knowing is that Royal Holloway runs a dedicated process for sponsored students, defining them as 'students in receipt of sponsorship from external sponsors such as your own government, a company or charity'. Several British universities exclude sponsored students from their awards. An institution that has built administration around them is starting from a different place, though it does not by itself mean its scholarships are open. Every University of London institution awards its own degrees and admits independently. King's, UCL, LSE, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway, SOAS, Goldsmiths, Birkbeck, City St George's and Brunel are all members of the federation, and naming two of them on a UCAS form uses two of the five choices.
