The University of Portsmouth is a public university on the south coast, teaching business, computing, engineering, creative industries, health and the sciences. Two things set it apart, and both save real money. It fixes the international fee for the duration of the course, subject to a maximum inflationary rise of 5% a year — a protection King's College London, LSE and Newcastle do not offer at all. And it accepts one completed year of a Kazakh university degree in place of a foundation year, a route that removes roughly GBP 15,000 to GBP 25,000 in foundation fees plus a full year of UK living costs. Its international fees run GBP 17,900 to GBP 20,000 for 2026/27, and a placement year is charged at a nominal fee rather than a proportion of the full rate. Portsmouth also teaches at a London campus, and the campus decides the maintenance figure. The fee lock does not extend to courses taken at partner institutions.
