California Institute of the Arts

CalArts is a private arts institute at Valencia, California, organised into six schools covering visual and performing arts, and describing its approach as 'the full development of the creative abilities of visual and performing artists'. What was established is a set of named scholarships, and most are restricted in ways that exclude an international applicant from Kazakhstan. The qey's (Dream) Scholarship is for students from an Indigenous community or nation, the Beutner Family award requires participation in the institute's Community Arts Partnership programme in Los Angeles, and the Feature Music and Feature Arts Scholarships are for students who self-identify as BIPOC. Establishing what general merit funding exists for international applicants is the central outstanding task.
