Gettysburg College

Gettysburg is a liberal arts college in Pennsylvania whose international aid position is candidly stated and unusually well documented. It offers both merit scholarships and need-based grants to international students, and says openly that 'international students have the potential to receive a grant amount equal to full tuition but that is not ordinarily the case', that loan and employment awards are usually part of a package, and that there is an expectation families will contribute. Two rules shape any application. Every international applicant, regardless of interest in financial assistance, must submit the International Student Financial Statement by the application deadline. And aid is available only at the point of admission: a student who does not apply for and receive aid when admitted is not eligible to apply in future years. Applicants receive their financial aid decision alongside their acceptance letter.
