Luther College

Luther is a Lutheran liberal arts college in Decorah, north-east Iowa, running a 4-1-4 academic calendar with a January term. It makes a commitment on its own pages that few colleges make: 'To demonstrate its strong commitment to global diversity, Luther strives to meet the financial need of all admitted international students.' Academic merit scholarships run up to USD 37,000 a year, are automatic, and are renewable through the fourth year. Luther is unusually well set up for students travelling long distances. It operates its own transport to Minneapolis–St. Paul and Rochester airports and to Chicago O'Hare at the beginning and end of scheduled breaks, which matters in a town of about 7,700 people some 350 miles from Chicago. Over 60% of students study abroad.
