Muhlenberg College

Muhlenberg is a Lutheran liberal arts college in Allentown, Pennsylvania, founded in 1848. Its defining constraint for an international applicant is stated openly: it is a writing-intensive institution that offers no ESL coursework, so English proficiency is a genuine floor with no support available afterwards. Against that, its aid process is well designed for international students. Need-based aid is requested simply by indicating interest on the Common Application, and once offered it is renewable for each of the following three years without submitting additional materials. Muhlenberg warns clearly that 'it is too late to apply for aid after you have been admitted.' Talent scholarships of USD 1,000 to USD 2,000 are available by audition or portfolio in performing and visual arts, and notably do not require majoring in those subjects.
