Providence College is a Catholic Dominican liberal arts college in Rhode Island with around 60 undergraduate majors across arts and sciences, business, nursing and health sciences, and education and social work. It is unusually candid about money. Its admission of international students is openly need-aware, and rather than leaving an applicant to guess what that means it publishes the actual thresholds: to be admissible an applicant must demonstrate the ability to cover at least housing and food, around USD 22,000, while the most competitive candidates demonstrate the ability to cover roughly half the total cost of attendance, around USD 35,000. It goes further and warns that published averages of international support are inflated by student-athletes on full athletic scholarships. Aid is real but capped. No combination of merit and need-based awards will exceed the cost of tuition, leaving housing, food, travel and books to the student. Awards are level-funded for four years and cannot be increased later, so the figure offered at admission is the figure for the whole degree.
