Public research university
Part of the University of Colorado system
$24 168 (2026/27)
UCCS is a public research university at Colorado Springs, part of the University of Colorado system and admitting separately from CU Denver and CU Boulder. Colorado Springs sits at the foot of Pikes Peak, and the setting shapes the university's profile: it has developed particular strengths around cybersecurity, defence and aerospace, reflecting the concentration of Space Force, Air Force and defence-industry activity in the city. That proximity carries a caveat a Kazakh applicant should understand. Programmes with defence or national-security links frequently involve export-controlled research, security clearances or restricted laboratory access, and those are generally unavailable to non-citizens. A Kazakh applicant drawn to UCCS for cybersecurity or aerospace should ask explicitly which courses, laboratories, internships and capstone projects are open to an F-1 student, since a degree in which the most valuable components are closed would be poor value.
