The University of Idaho is Idaho's public land-grant research university at Moscow, and it publishes unusually clear before-and-after figures. Its automatic award, Invitation to Idaho, is 'the only award U of I automatically offers to new international students', and Idaho states exactly what it does: 'This award is applied to the cost of tuition, decreasing the annual international tuition cost of USD 29,016 to USD 13,294.' That is a reduction of USD 15,722 a year, awarded with no separate application. Applicants who do not qualify have a second route: 'Don't qualify for Invitation to Idaho? Apply for the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship for 50% off tuition', an annual, renewable award 'covering 50% of tuition for up to four years of study'. Between the two, Idaho offers one of the strongest published propositions recorded.
