University of Maryland, Baltimore County

UMBC is a public research university outside Baltimore, designated Maryland's Honors University, with recognised strength in computer science, engineering, information technology and public policy. Its international funding has a specific and unusually generous named route: its International Student and Scholar Services office offers two annual, renewable scholarships for up to four years covering 50% of tuition, alongside automatic consideration for UMBC's general merit awards. Two international-specific costs must be budgeted on top of tuition: an international student fee of USD 125 per semester, and health insurance in which all international students are automatically enrolled. Undergraduate deadlines are 1 November for Early Action and 1 December for Regular Decision, which are earlier than several peers.
