Conestoga College

Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ontario was founded in 1967 and teaches engineering technology, skilled trades, health sciences and business. Its engineering technology and skilled trades provision sits within the fields that remain work permit eligible at diploma level, which is the stronger part of what it offers an international applicant. One piece of context belongs with that. Conestoga grew its international enrolment substantially in recent years, and the institutions that did so are the ones most exposed to the federal study permit cap and to the November 2024 work permit changes. Cape Breton University, which followed a similar path, is reported to have seen visa undergraduate enrolment fall sharply in a single year with budget reductions to match. That is reporting about another institution rather than a finding about this one. It does make asking Conestoga whether the intended programme will run for its full length a reasonable question.
