Simon Fraser University is ranked first among Canadian comprehensive universities by Maclean's and teaches across three campuses at Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver. It has more than 37,000 students, with the international share reported at close to a fifth by compilations rather than by the university. Three things make it worth serious consideration for a Kazakh applicant rather than treatment as a fallback. Its acceptance rate is reported at roughly 59 to 62 per cent by admissions compilations rather than by the university, so it is recorded rather than adopted. Even as an unconfirmed figure it is more than the U15 institutions disclose, since they publish no rate at all while cutoffs above 90 per cent are reported for their competitive programmes. It runs two intakes a year, in September and January, so a rejected or delayed applicant has a second entry point rather than losing twelve months — which matters more than it sounds given how tight the study permit timeline has become. And tuition is charged per unit rather than as a flat annual fee, so the annual cost follows the course load rather than being fixed — which is the one genuine forecasting advantage here, and not the provincial cap that circulating guidance describes.
