The University of British Columbia teaches at Vancouver and Kelowna and is among the most popular Canadian destinations for Kazakh students. Its scholarship position is strong and the mechanism is simpler than circulating guidance suggests. Applying by the general deadline of 15 January 2027 brings automatic consideration for the International Major Entrance Scholarship, with no separate form. UBC publishes that award at 10,000 to 25,000 Canadian dollars a year for 2026/27 and states it devotes more than 35 million annually to international undergraduate support. One earlier date exists and is a different award: 15 November 2026 for the International Scholars Program, which requires a separate award application. The 1 December date that appears in much secondary guidance is for awards open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, not international applicants. UBC also does something few Canadian universities do, and it is worth more to a family than most scholarships. It commits international undergraduates starting in 2026/27 to tuition increases of no more than 3 per cent a year until they graduate. In a country where international tuition is otherwise unregulated, a written ceiling makes a four-year budget real rather than indicative. The Personal Profile is the distinguishing feature of the application and deserves real preparation, since it is assessed rather than filed. Vancouver is among the most expensive cities in Canada. The Okanagan campus at Kelowna is materially cheaper to live near, admits separately, and awards the same degree.
